The ISTA (International Snow Training Academy) DISCOVERY is a one-day introduction to the ISTA program and ISTA philosophy. The aim of this course is that you discover about risk prevention outside the marked slopes and become more aware of the complexity of avalanches. At the end of the course you will be able to follow the entire risk assessment process with the help of your ISTA handbook and conduct yourself properly in an emergency.
The course takes place directly in the practice area, i.e. on the snow and is divided into both theoretical and practical parts. The highly informative day ends with the practical implementation of what has been learned. Evaluating the avalanche risk, your behavior in an emergency and a brief introduction to the avalanche search.
